24th Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival
Saturday, June 3, 2017
hosted by the Wellborn Community Association, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) Florida corporation
Our main function and fundraiser each year is the Wellborn Blueberry Festival, held the first Saturday in June on the community center grounds in downtown Wellborn. This year’s Festival, the 24th Annual, was held on June 3, 2017. There was no admission fee to enjoy 96 arts & crafts and food vendors, the country store, a car show, parade, children’s amusements, and (of course) our famous blueberry pancake breakfast served 783 breakfasts from 7:00 to 10:00am. The Country Store sold out of blueberry pies and cobblers. We still have some jams, jellies, and syrup available. We did not have as many fresh blueberries available as usual because of the late freeze. Many growers are just now (June 7) starting to harvest. The car show featured about 50 classic and antique cars. “Top Twenty-Five” awards were given out, as well as several “Best” awards. The parade featured equestrian and float entries as well as several interesting vehicles. Our Grand Marshalls were Ruth Mizell and Eddie Jo McLaren who have been so fortunate as to live their entire lives in Wellborn. See our Blog post for a biography of the McLarens.

The Blueberry Festival cannot happen without volunteers. All of the members of the Wellborn Community Association are volunteers and all have worked tirelessly. We also had many more volunteers from all walks of life without whom we could not have done this Festival. We appreciate you!!
The car show and parade were hosted by Southern Knights Street Rodders. Many thanks to Jeff Delaney and Cheri Copeland for putting on a first-class event and giving out really distinctive awards that were appreciated by all.
