HAPPY FATHERS DAY
Wellborn My Hometown

From Arson to Eggplant
Recently two teens from Wellborn burned down a cabinet maker's shop in the center of our little town. The rubble was cleared and a community garden has risen from the ashes.
The fire took out one of the few business remaining in Wellborn, a town that was already hurting economically before the recession.
Area master gardeners and The Wellborn Community Association thought it was important to give the people here a little hope. They have planted a garden in the foundation/yard where the cabinet maker's shop once stood.
Currently, produce from the garden will be donated to shut-ins in our community.
We' love to get your input on what we can do to design a our-season garden that will provide food for the needy as well as serve as a demonstration site for organic gardening, a hands-on project for children in the area, and an attractive sitting area for community members. We would be thrilled to benefit from your expertise. Anything we currently have in place can be changed.
The community of Wellborn is unlike any I've experienced before. Though not an affluent population, the people here work very hard to are for the needy. Once a month, they have a blueberry pancake breakfast and once a year, they hold a Blueberry Festival to raise funds for community projects. Examples of their many projects include delivering food to the elderly, providing a Christmas party and gifts for children in the community, an providing GED classes for those wishing to further their education. If anyone is worthy of your generosity, it is the Wellborn Community, it is the Wellborn Community. They will work hard and will make the most o any opportunity you provide for them. You will see the benefits of your project live on for generations in this community.
